Anke van der Kooij was born in Delft, Holland, on the 7th of
September 1980. She studied singing at the Royal Conservatory
in The Hague, where she got her degree in May 2005. She studied
there with Sasja Hunnego and Gerda van Zelm. Now she studies
with Liesbeth Damen.
She sang in many projects, in the oratorio and opera
repertoire. Amongst others she sang the roles of Adalgisa in
Norma (Bellini) and Dido in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell) In the
oratorio repertoire she recently sang the soprano solos in
Fauré's Requiem, Jansen's Requiem (with the composer, CD
recording in February 2006), and Blackford's Mirror of
Perfection. She sang all of the Wesendonck Lieder with
orchestra, and sang in many opera recitals amongst others
aria's of Mimi (La Bohème), Desdemona (Othello), Rosina (Il
barbiere di Siviglia), Marguerite (Faust - Gounod), Michaela
(Carmen), Marzelline (Beethoven) etc. On the 5th of July
latest, she sang in the well known radioprogramme of Opera
Pietje in a theatre in Zaandam.
She finds it very important to share her experience in
singing with others, so she teaches singing lessons and
courses, and she is the conductor of youth choir 'Rejoice'
